Harry was sure that she was hallucinating; she heard voices calling her name. She looked round, it was dark, and it was cold. She couldn't see anyone, but then again she couldn't see a lot right now and it hurt, it really hurt to try to look at anything. She tried listening, but all she could hear was the sound of the waves against the shore and the cliffs a little further round the bend she had been heading towards before the slide.
Again the voices came, she tried to call back but her throat was so dry from the sand and the salt in the air. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't shout loudly enough, even to her it sounded little more than a whisper. She knew that she would have to be heard over the sounds all around her if she was to be rescued. 'Hah!' She thought, 'Rescued?' She didn’t believe that it was going to happen, she still believed that she was going to die on the beach and never be found. Part of her didn’t believe that she deserved to be rescued. She believed that she deserved everything that was happening to her right now. She seemed to hurt or destroy anyone she ever cared about. Again she shivered involuntarily which sent ripples of pain throughout her body. All she could see was Alice’s face. She didn’t want to die not knowing what had happened last night. That thought was enough to give her hope.
She summoned all the breath she could inside her lungs which were burning, “Help!” She screamed as loudly as she could, almost instantly she could hear people travelling in her direction, soon enough she could hear them calling “Over there! She's over there! Get the medics!” The lights from the torches danced on the cliffs near her, she could see that help was on the way, she wasn't going to die alone on this bloody beach. She could pull back her life from here. She could see Alice.
She could find out what happened. She could ease the pain which she had relived and relived all day and night, she could make something better of her life and be with someone she cared deeply about. Someone she thought she loved. She screamed one name before she passed out again. The name she screamed was not “Alice.”
